THE METALLIFEROUS LANDSCAPE I & II
These two series of images respond to the post-metalliferous mining landscape of the Carnon and Poldice Valleys between Truro and Redruth in Cornwall. The images capture the visible traces of the landscape’s former and current use.
The work is also intended to reflect the inaccuracies in the memories we have of any landscape and, therefore, the composite and commonly inaccurate image of it we retain in our mind’s eye. The images are, therefore, an amalgam of related though fractured parts - a mix of traces of the landscape’s actual form.
