NEARBY (2026)
This work is drawn from a series of walks along routes within a three-mile radius of my home in Mabe Burnthouse, Cornwall. The images reflect the varied landscape including out-of-town retail, public infrastructure, the active, derelict and neglected industrial, the rural and the residential. Some of it is seen, though most is overlooked.
Along lanes and footpaths, skirting the edge of fields, passing the backs of houses, storage yards and under the span of major roads – the walker moves from where noise intrudes to the sound of near silence.
The images explore the tension between photography's ability to document and the photographer's impulse to interpret. I am interested in the landscape as a place where the human and 'natural' worlds meet - sometimes collide - and the effects or impacts of that encounter as time unwinds.
